After almost a week on strike, Septa is back to work. It was a nice surprise to wake up to. I didn't want to risk taking the bus to work (you know, if my driver decided he wanted an extra day off), so I took the train for the last time. As much as I complained so hard about the strike, I won't lie - I'll miss the comfort of the train, the silence, the rather smooth ride. I also really was starting to like the walk. I took the bus on the way home - traffic wasn't bad but I was stuck at the transit stop for about a half hour. That is definitely something I didn't miss.
Regardless...I'm glad to see that the thousands of people who depend on public transportation now can get back to normal.
We finally got our wireless router this weekend - and THANK GOD is all I can say. No more switching wires around and having to wait my turn if I needed to check something on the internet that the iPhone doesn't allow. We got the router from Microcenter. If you ever need any techy type things, definitely check them out. You can find them online and they have a store in Radnor (and stores elsewhere I believe). They have great deals. We got our router for $35 and it was so worth it.
This weekend was very, very busy, but it was a good one! Friday night we had some Mexican food at the Adobe Cafe and came home to watch The Count of Monte Cristo - one of my favorite movies. I'd recommend it to anyone - there is something for everyone in it. I'd also recommend the Adobe. The one in Manayunk is SO MUCH BETTER than the one on Passyunk. I think the atmosphere is nicer and the waitstaff is much more efficient. Cody got a bit of a bonus in his check, thanks to making the switch to his new employer, so it was a nice treat. Thank you Cody :)
On Saturday, I took Cody to B&Bs grocery outlet. If you live in the Philly area and haven't been to B&Bs - MAKE THE TRIP! It is hysterically wonderful. You can find it just off of the Turnpike past the Downingtown exit (Morgantown I believe it is). It's in the furniture outlet mall - if you ask the toll booth person, they can direct you to it. We got $150 of groceries and cleaning supplies for about $50. Just check the labels for dates, but other than that you can find some fantastic deals. Afterwards, we went to the ultimate fast food spot - Sonic. I'm glad there are none that are too close to me, otherwise I'd weigh about 100 pounds more. We then hit up Microcenter for our router and then Bed, Bath & Beyond for my cousin Jaclyn's bridal shower gift. *sigh* We were all over the place. We wanted to go bowling that night, but we were just too beat. We sat in and watched some Office episodes and crashed pretty early.
Sunday was another busy day... Woke up and went to church, sped home to do some chores, and then I had to make the trek to Delaware County for my cousin's shower. It was really nice to see my family - and even better to hear so much good news from so many people! Jaclyn seemed to enjoy her day and she got a lot of great things. After the shower, I came home, made dinner, attempted to watch the Eagles game but passed out by 9:30.
Can I get a weekend from my weekend? I'm pooped.
A lot of busy-ness going on at work and I expect to work some long days ahead. Our yearly retreat is a week from today and there are a ton of things to do to get ready for it.
Is it just me, or is November seriously flying by? So much to do, and so little time! I'd say I better get started on my Christmas shopping, but I prefer to wait until Christmas Eve. And no, I am not kidding. A tradition I tell you...
