oh thank heavens...

I broke down...I couldn't do it anymore! After years of having satellite radio and getting it for free, they finally caught on to the fact they weren't billing me. Since I don't drive that much anymore, I thought it would be economically sensible to cancel my subscription.

For awhile, it wasn't so bad. I could deal with listening to 88.5 or some cds. I could deal with it if the longest I was driving was an hour.

Well, at the end of January, I went to visit my dear Frau Ana in North Jersey, a good 2 and a half hours away. This was the first time in 5 years I've driven that kind of distance with no satellite.

You definitely do NOT know what you've got until it's gone. Oh how I underestimated Sirius. I couldn't get my traffic in 2 minutes - I had to wait a whole 10! And when I crossed the North/South Jersey boundary, I didn't know what station in New York City played traffic like 1060AM! I had no 80s mix to jam out to! No BBC! The horrors! You couldn't even begin to imagine.

After that trip, I decided to break down and restart my subscription. Unfortunately, there was some sort of mishap that involved my cup holder and cigarette lighter in my car - to make a long story short, my receiver couldn't get its power from the lighter anymore. Bummer dude.

Well joy of all joys! I was telling my friend Eric, a mechanic, about it on Sunday and he said that he could fix it right then and there. After 5 minutes of fooling with the electrical work and the lighter, I now have power. Insert HUGE SIGH OF RELIEF.

I so want to go on a roadtrip now.

Even better... I got them to give me 5 months for $20!! I love bargaining. So not only will I enjoy driving again, I can now listen to it on my iPhone. Commuting is so much better with Sirius. I can listen to my 80s...the world news...comedy...worship...Martha Stewart...

Oh it is FANTASTIC!

Unfortunately I loved it a bit too much on Tuesday. I was waiting for Cody outside of an interview, listening to the radio, and I ended up draining the battery. Duh. Thank God for AAA - and mom. Thanks Mom.
